Official recap
Kansas State's underdog Wildcats socked the Cornhuskers early and hung on for a stunning 12-0 upset before 65,986 Homecoming fans.

On their first possession, the Wildcats hit the Huskers with a 47-yard pass and they had a 6-0 lead with 12:33 left in the first quarter.

The Huskers were never able to generate an offensive threat inside the K-State 31, and the Wildcats kicked two fourth quarter field goals to pad their lead.

K-State's defense kept the Huskers in check throughout the game and the Scarlet attack was held to 78 yards on the ground and only 7 of 28 successful passes.

It was only the second shutout for the Cornhuskers under Coach Bob Devaney.
