Second Annual HuskerPedia™
Bob Terrio Classic
July 29-30, 2005

The Second Annual Bob Terrio Classic was held in conjuction with Adrian Fiala's Husker Heritage Golf Tournament in Gothenburg on July 29-30. The SI cover that was donated was sold for $125 at the live auction and a Husker helmet print signed by Coach Osborne also sold for $125.

You can still purchase either the original Sports Illustrated cover and/or the 1962 game cover that started the sell out streak. Proceeds from the sale of these covers will go to designated charities and schools.

The First Annual HuskerPedia™ Bob Terrio Classic was held on July 16-18, 2004 and a great time was had by all that participated in the various events. Follow the links to pictures of the autograph dinner, softball tournament teams, the parade, and the celebrity softball game.

The proceeds were donated to the city of Western, Nebraska Rural Volunteer Fire Department toward the purchase of a new ambulance for their Emergency Rescue Squad. Western is a town of 280 people in south east Nebraska and is the home town of the Classic coordinator Jeff Winter. Bob Terrio is a retired 28-year veteran police officer and Jeff Winter is a career prosecutor who have organized these events to assist this small town volunteer fire department.

Bob Terrio played on the 1970-1971 National Championship teams and was featured on the November 22, 1971, cover of Sports Illustrated (“IRRESISTIBLE OKLAHOMA MEETS IMMOVABLE NEBRASKA” before the game of the CENTURY) and the January 10, 1972, cover of Sports Illustrated. The November cover featured Terrio for Nebraska and Greg Pruitt of Oklahoma. The January cover featured Larry Jacobson (Jersey #75 – Retired and the Nebraska’s First Outland Trophy Winner – 1971), Bill Janssen and Terrio, who is pictured having recovered an Alabama fumble. Jeff Winter has accumulated 71 original copies of that cover, and Bob, Bill, and Larry have signed 71 original copies of the covers and a few are still available for sale. To purchase one of the covers click here.

The Bob Terrio Classic has also created 262 copies of the November 3, 1962 GAME PROGRAM which was the game that started the 262 game consecutive sellout streak which is an ongoing NCAA record. The starting Quarterback of that game was Dennis Claridge and featured star Nebraska running back Bill "Thunder" Thorton. Dennis and Bill will autograph the 1962 program. You can order a copy here.
