Official recap
Coach Bob Devaney and his Nebraska Cornhuskers twice had to battle from behind, but poise and determination paid off for a 28-21 victory over Oklahoma before 67,392 fans.

In whipping the tough young Sooners for the second straight year, Nebraska achieved its first unbeaten season (10-0-1) since 1965 and the second of Devaney's tenure. The Huskers also earned a repeat Big 8 title, the sixth in the last eight years.

Oklahoma's Jack Mildren scored first, but a 53-yard Jerry Tagge-to-Johnny Rodgers TD pass play got the Huskers a 7-7 tie in the second quarter.

Joe Wylie ran 37-yards to put OU ahead 14-7, but again Nebraska drove for a tying tally with Joe Orduna scoring just before halftime.

Nebraska went in front on a 13-yard Tagge-to-lngles fling for a 21-14 lead going into the final quarter. Again Oklahoma tied it up, before the Huskers marched 53-yards for the clinching touchdown.

Tagge punched in for the TD with 7:42 left.
