RETIRED JERSEYS The university honors all major national award winners by retiring their jerseys. The player's number remains available to active Huskers, however. The only numbers to be retired are 60 and 64. After the 1949 season, the N Club voted to retire No. 60 in honor of Tom "Train Wreck" Novak, a four-time All-Big Seven choice and a 1949 All-American. Bob Brown's No. 64 was permanently retired in 2004 after Brown became just the third Husker in history to earn a spot in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
