Huskers sweep Pepperdine
 
Tucson, AZ -- Nebraska outside hitters Laura Pilakowski and Anna Schrad combined for 27 kills to lead No. 2 Nebraska to a 30-12, 30-25, 30-26 win over No. 14 Pepperdine in the first match of the Wildcat Classic at the University of Arizona's McKale Center Friday night. With the victory, Nebraska improves to 3-1 while Pepperdine falls to 3-3.

Pilakowski and Schrad posted 15 and 12 kills, respectively, while freshman Jennifer Saleaumua added to the Huskers' red-hot offense with 10 kills on a .563 hitting percentage. The Huskers hit .350 as a team, while holding Pepperdine to a .135 clip.

"We started off serving tough, we were sharp and focused," said head coach John Cook. "We're a lot more confident in our team."

Pepperdine's Lindesy Hache led the Waves with 12 kills on a .375 hitting percentage. The Huskers held the Waves in check, as middle blocker Amber Holmquist added a match-high nine blocks.

The Huskers conclude the Wildcat Classic Saturday at 2 p.m., taking on No. 11 Arizona.
